Also in Piazza del Comune, on the scenic belvedere overlooking Lake Bracciano, stands the Fontana delle Anguille, one of the most iconic landmarks of Anguillara Sabazia. Although local tradition attributes it to the neoclassical sculptor Ignazio Jacometti, it was built in the second half of the 18th century based on a design by architect Virginio Bracci. With a simple façade divided into three vertical sections marked by two side semi-circular basins and a central squared body, the fountain features two bronze sculptures of eels, from whose mouths water flows. 5 – Church of the Madonna delle Grazie
Another religious building worth visiting is the Church of the Madonna delle Grazie, a small rural sanctuary built in the 17th century. The current structure features a portico with three arches, added at a later stage compared to the original construction, which partially altered its exterior appearance. The interior, simple and essential, preserves several valuable works of art, including the 18th-century fresco of the Madonna with Child on the main altar. A curious fact: in 1796, this church was one of the places where the Marian miracle of the “moving eyes” of the Madonna paintings was reported.
