If you’re in Bracciano and don’t visit Trevignano and Anguillara, it’s like going to Paris and skipping the Eiffel Tower. These two lakeside villages are gems that completely change your perspective on the area.
For years, we have been accompanying our guests (virtually) on their discovery of these places, and every time we return with sparkling eyes. They are different from each other, but both deserve a dedicated trip.
Trevignano Romano: the village reflected in the lake
Just a 15-minute drive from us, Trevignano is what you imagine when you think of a perfect medieval village. Colorful houses sloping down to the lake, fishing boats, alleys scented with flowers and home cooking.
The best time to visit? Sunset. When the sun sets behind the hills, the village is reflected in the water, creating a magical effect. It’s time for the first aperitifs on the terraces and romantic walks along the lakefront.
What not to miss:
La Rocca dei Vico, for breathtaking views
The Sunday market with local products
Dinner at Righetto with fish from the lake
A walk on the pier at sunset
Anguillara Sabazia: elegance on the lake
Twenty minutes from Bracciano, Anguillara has a different charm. It is more elegant, more “dressed up.” The historic center is a series of stairways and terraces overlooking the lake from every corner.
Here you will find stylish boutiques, refined wine bars, and restaurants that would not look out of place in the center of Rome. It is the perfect place for a day of shopping followed by lunch with a view.
Our tips:
Wear comfortable shoes: there are lots of ups and downs to walk.
Always book for lunch on weekends.
Don’t miss the aperitif at Lido dei Pini.
Visit the Collegiata dell’Assunta for its frescoes.
How to organize your visit
Our expert advice: dedicate a whole day to both villages. Spend the morning in Anguillara for shopping and coffee, have lunch in Trevignano sul Lago, and relax on the beaches in the afternoon.
They are easily accessible by car, but in summer it is better to take the boat that connects all the villages on the lake. An original way to see them from the water before exploring them on foot.
